William F. Bill Butzin, Jr., 56, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, after an extended illness.
Bill was born in Peru, February 1, 1960, to William F. Sr. and Helen (Stephens) Butzin. Through mutual friends, he met his future wife, Romona Shanabarger, who survives. They have been the love of each others' lives since then. They celebrated 32 years of marriage in May 2016.
For 33 years, Bill was a faithful production employee of Square D/Schneider Electric before medically retiring in 2011. He was also a farmer.
Bill was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Peru, where he served on the fellowship committee and enjoyed Men's Bible Study. He drew strength and encouragement from the church body. Bill deeply loved The Lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his mother Helen Butzin (Peru); sisters: Jane Schmehl (Peru), Judy (Dennis) Kikendall (North Carolina; Nephews: Brian Schmehl (Stephanie) Angela, Seth and Emily Royal Center, Brent Schmehl (Logansport), Kurt Kikendall (Kimberly) Kyle, Kimberly and Kelly, and Niece: Kristi Sledge (Bob) Andrew, Amanda, Joshua and Hannah -North Carolina; and close family member Doug Weaver (Logansport). He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents Frank and Hazel Butzin, and several aunts and uncles.
Bill greatly enjoyed outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed watching westerns and military programs and listening to music by Jon Bon Jovi. He enjoyed many things in life made sweeter by the company of friends.
Visitation is scheduled Wednesday, October 26th at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home in Peru from 2pm 7pm. Funeral service will be October 27th at Grace Brethren Church (430 South Broadway) in Peru at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peru.
