Wilbur Jones Obituary

Wilbur O. Jones, 94, of rural Delphi, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, in his home with his family at his side.

Wilbur was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Boone County, to the late Floyd E. and Mary Christina (Kincaid) Jones. He was a 1940 graduate of Sheridan High School. During World War II, he served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1942-1944 as a tank gunner.

He married Luella Mae Lowe on Jan. 30, 1944, in Sheridan, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2007.

Mr. Jones worked as a mechanic for over 39 years for various John Deere dealerships in the area. He worked as the service manager for 20 of those years.

He was a member of the Hickory Grove Church and founding member of the Carroll County Antique Tractor Club, and member of their Wall of Fame and the Carroll County Ag Hall of Fame.

He enjoyed working on and restoring John Deere tractors and antiques. He looked forward to the Tractor Drive every year on his birthday.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Ann Jones (Bob) and Sandra Lou "Dusty" Davidson (Larry) both of Ridgefield, Washington, Judy Kay Listenberger (Michel) of Niles, Michigan, Rick O. Jones (Teena) of Bringhurst, Jack J. Jones (Betty) of Delphi, Jeffery K. Jones (Irenda) of Lebanon; asister, Nina Triesch of Atlanta, Indiana; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Davidson Funeral Home. Larry Davidson, Pastor Bill Godbey and Father Bob Williams will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery with military graveside rites offered by the Carroll County Honor Guard.

Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
