Rose Marie Spangler Townsend, 46, Kewanna, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at the Franciscan Health Care Hospital, Indianapolis. This followed a valiant four-year battle with leukemia.
Born Aug. 22, 1970, in Rochester, Rosi was the treasured daughter of William and Dolly Steffey Spangler. Growing up she shared her childhood with a brother, Billy. With great Comet pride, Rosi graduated from Caston High School in 1988. During her high school years she was a member of the Lady Comets volleyball team.
In Logansport on June 29, 1990, Rosi married the love of her life, Mr. Jay Townsend. Together they shared more than 26 years of life's adventures. From their union came two handsome sons, Mitchell and Kaleb.
In earlier years, Rosi worked for The Shopping Guide as a sales representative. More recently she was employed at Logansport's VFW. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary 3790.
An avid sports fan, Rosi loved the Cubs, both Chicago and South Bend teams, going to games over the years. She took great joy cheering for the 2016 edition while on their pennant drive winning the World Series. Rosi cheered for Purdue University and the Pittsburgh Steelers. As an accomplished kegler, she bowled in league play as well as the state tournaments. Special vacation memories were made on a trip to Branson, Missouri, with the Townsend family.
Rosi was the proud owner of a unique collection of owls. She also owned a vast collection of Mickey Mouse memorabilia. Euchre was her favorite card game. To relax she enjoyed sunning poolside in her back yard. She was happy as a clam to be catching the rays, spending time at the beach while visiting her brother Billy.
Left to cherish Rosi's memory is her loving husband, Jay; two sons, Mitchell Townsend of Rochester and Kaleb Townsend of Kewanna; a brother, William "Billy" Spangler and wife Sandi of Ormond Beach, Florida; her father, William "Bill" Spangler of Fulton; in-laws Jack and Wanda Townsend, sister-in-law Tammy Townsend and brother-in-law Brian Townsend, all of Rochester; brother-in-law Linc Townsend and wife Lisa of Leiters Ford; a niece, Miranda Townsend; and six nephews, Wes Spangler, Blayne Townsend, Brody Townsend, Coty Roe, Dillan Townsend and Jonathon Townsend. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Preceding Rosi in death were her grandparents and mother Dolly.
