Mildred Barbara "Millie" Schmicker, 90, of Winamac, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022.

She was born on May 12, 1932, in Pulaski, to the late Leander Jacob and Lenora Barbara (Kuhn) Weaver. Millie graduated from Pulaski High School in 1950. On Feb. 6, 1952, she married Robert Louis "Bob" Schmicker at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski. Bob passed away on Feb. 7, 2004.

Millie was a longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac, where she was active in the Christian Mother's and the Ladies of Charity. She was also a religious education teacher and youth leader for many years. Millie was a proud homemaker. She was the nurturing mother of 13 children, and a loving and devoted farm wife. Millie was very proud of her 52 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. In her younger years, she worked at Pulaski County Abstract Co. Millie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and canning. She also enjoyed completing her family genealogy, putting together puzzles and playing free cell on the computer. Millie was always willing to bless others with her kindness and ability to help in any way she could. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include 13 children, Tom (Mary Beth) Schmicker, Tim (Rochelle) Schmicker, Ted (Erin Brugh) Schmicker, Anne Holbrook, Tobe Schmicker, Lenora (Doug) Hoover, Tony (Michelle) Schmicker, Todd (Michelle) Schmicker, John (Kelly) Schmicker, Mary (Marc) Schultz, Rob (Teri) Schmicker, Dan (Gina Sowder) Schmicker and Teresa (Todd) Fleece; 47 grandchildren, Tommy (Amy) Schmicker, Josh (Irish) Schmicker, Nathan (Mandy) Schmicker, Dustin Schmicker, Jake Schmicker, Alysha (Floyd) Schmicker, Mike (Deborah) Spry, Monica (Mike) Maddox, Christina (Chad) Kasten, Annie (Billy) Nies, Catherine Jachim, Miranda (Bill) Fagan, Erica (Kevin) Kennedy, Brandi (Anibal) Flores, Marissa (Zach) Brugh, Alisha Fulmer, Jennifer (Jay) Johnson, Andy Schmicker, Amanda Schmicker, Leander (Jamie) Hoover, Savannah (Travis) O'Gwynn, Carrel (Jessica) Hoover, Allison Schmicker, Bridget Schmicker, Lily Schmicker, Whitney (Corbin) Schmicker, Wyatt (Maggie) Schmicker, Caleb (Emily) Schmicker, Cierra (Eli) Schmicker, Justin (Ashley) Schmicker, Kegan (Keilah) Schmicker, Qort (Jina) Schmicker, Autumn (Jake) Schmicker, Dustin (Aira) Schultz, Joey Schultz, Audrey (Austin) Doughty, Keegan (Heather) Doughty, Olivia Schmicker, Landen Schmicker, Aaron (Sam) Heims, Danielle (John) Conway, Dalton (April) Sowder, Blake (Brianna) Sowder, Zachary (Brianna) Schmicker, Christian Fleece, Erin (David) Anderson and Taylor Fleece; 39 great-grandchildren, Breanna, Dominic, Clayton, Thomas, Zoey, Jordyn, Christian, Connor, Ethan, Madison, Colton, Riley, Peyton, Lexxa, Shyla, Ethen, Merritt, Kian, Leo, Lucy, Abigail, Gavin, Jackson, Alli, Cash, Kadence, Kannon, Sam, Brilee, Rio, Emery, Kaliyah, Kylee, Ariana, Paislee, Bentley, Elijah, Addison, and Bryce; a brother-in-law, Jim Dilts; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Cooper; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Leander Jacob and Lenora Barbara (Kuhn) Weaver; her husband, Robert Louis "Bob" Schmicker; five grandsons, Aaron Schmicker, Abel Schmicker, Adam Schmicker, Brandon Suter and Cody Heims; a son-in-law, Kenneth Holbrook; four brothers, Paul (Roseanna) Weaver, Vincent (Margaret) Weaver, Cletus (Sophie) Weaver and Albert (Rosemary) Weaver; three sisters, Alvina (Homer) Downey, Ellen (Dick) Reinholt, and Margaret Dilts.

Per Millie's wishes, private family services will be held at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, and private family burial will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery in Winamac. Rev. Daniel Shine from St. Peter's Catholic Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, plants and gifts, Memorial Contributions may be made to Winamac Volunteer Fire Department, Star City Volunteer Fire Department, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriner's Hospital for Children or Riley Children's Hospital Foundation.
