Michael H. Winings (Mike) Obituary
Lake Cicott, Indiana - On the morning of Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, Michael Harry Winings, 70, of Lake Cicott, Indiana, went to meet Jesus.
Mike left his earthly home doing what he and his wife loved most, camping in their favorite place in Tennessee, beneath God's beautiful sky, with mountains all around.
Mike was born in Logansport, Indiana, on Nov. 8, 1952, to Helen (Murray) and Harry Winings. He attended Longfellow Elementary School in Logansport before the family moved to Monticello, Indiana. He attended Woodlawn Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High and Twin Lakes High School. Mike played football, track, and wrestled during high school. After working at The Point, he graduated from Indiana University with a business degree. While at IU, he drove a bus on campus. If you knew Mike, there is no doubt that those must have been some rides! Following college, Mike returned to Logansport, where he began his career with what eventually became MPI Corporation. He retired after 47 years of service, concluding as Vice President of Human Development.
On June 12, 1993, he married his soulmate and best friend, Pamela Sue Roller, she survives. They were blessed with 30 wonderful years of marriage. Mike and Pam spent much of their time together in the Lafayette Great Banquet Community. Mike attended Lafayette Great Banquet #14, and set at the table of James. Together, they have been instrumental in the Great Banquets by spreading the Love and Word of God to hundreds, if not thousands, over the years.
Mike had a way of making everyone feel like family and had a smile and laugh that could light up a room. Mike was an amazing cook, and loved sharing his love of food with others. His culinary creations were always made with love. If you were ever fortunate enough to have eaten his special pork butts, Gram's Apple Dumplings, or Mr. Mike's Nothin' Missing Party Mix, you'd remember it. You can most likely still taste it. Mike had an amazing sense of humor, and we can't forget his wonderful back scratches. Mike was an avid wood worker, and was known for his handmade hand crosses, which have been handed out all over the world. He also had a special love for animals, especially for all of the family dogs.
Mike was a friend to everyone he met. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and wanted everyone to know Jesus. Mike's passing was unexpected, but because of his strong faith in Jesus Christ, the family is at peace knowing that he is in his forever home, and that we will meet again someday.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Pam; brothers, Jeff (Nancy) Winings and Dave (Sue) Winings; mother-in-law, Karen Roller; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Darlene) Roller Jr. and Jeff (Chris) Roller; nephews, Justin (Chelsy) Roller and Matthew (Roseanne) Winings; nieces, Shelby Roller and Rachel Winings; and seven great-nieces and -nephews, Graysen, Brantly and Mindy Roller, Henry, Kate and Lucy Winings and Annie Winings. Mike is also survived by his loyal pets, Bentley and Joy.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Jerry Roller Sr.; and a niece, Angela Roller.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, and noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at 1 p.m., at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana.
