Mary Eleanor Caughell, 94, of Fort Wayne (formerly of Indianapolis), went to meet her Lord at 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020.

She was born on Monday, July 19, 1926, in rural Idaville (Carroll County), to the late James Logan and Mabel Marie (Garrison) Caughell.

She was the middle child with siblings of Virginia Caughell Foerman, and James Robert "Bob" Caughell.

Mary graduated from Adams Township School in rural Carroll County.

She then completed her nurse's training at Home Hospital of Lafayette, and eventually earned an advanced nursing degree at Indiana University, of Indianapolis, and Butler University, of Indianapolis.

She worked in nursing for over 50 years. The majority of the time she worked in nursing administration positions at hospitals in Indianapolis, including Winona and Community East Hospitals.

Mary was an extremely proud member of the Nursing Professionals, and steered a niece, nephew, and great-niece into nursing careers.

She resided in Indianapolis all of her adult life and was an active member of the East 91st St. Christian Church of Indianapolis for many years.

Mary cherished her family and loved being involved in their lives; she was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are three nephews, Gary (wife Chris) Foerman, of Royal Center, Greg (wife Terri) Caughell, of Roann, and Doug (wife Debbie) Caughell, of Beverly Hills, Florida; two nieces, Marsha and Celia Foerman, both of Arizona; multiple great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James Logan, and Mabel Marie (Garrison) Caughell; sister, Virginia Foerman; and brother, Robert "Bob" Caughell.

Graveside service was 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, at the Seceeder / Cedarville Cemetery in rural Carroll County,with Rev. Ed Roller of the Bell Center Bible Church of rural White County officiating.
