Marilyn F. Spangler Obituary

Logansport, IN - Marilyn Frances Spangler, 87, Logansport, Indiana, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, in Woodbridge Health Campus.

Born May 21, 1938, in Denver, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late H. Clifford and Nellie Johanna (Minneman) Fouts.

On Jan. 10, 1953, in Denver, Indiana, she was married to Perry K. Spangler. He preceded her in death March 15, 1981.

Marilyn was a graduate of Ivy Tech Community College, where she received her associate's degree. She was a church secretary for a number of years. She had also worked as a receptionist in a doctor's office, as well as working as a secretary in the Cass County Surveyor's office. She also spent several years driving a school bus for the North Miami School Corporation.

Her faith in Jesus sustained her throughout her life and she had worshipped at the Denver Baptist Church, Hillcrest Baptist Church in Logansport, Eastpointe Bible Church in Peru and the Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo. Throughout the years, Marilyn loved helping with the Awana Children's ministry. She enjoyed reading and spent many hours reading her Bible. She also loved singing hymns.

Marilyn loved spending time with her family, walking and traveling—especially driving. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing special desserts at holidays and gatherings. Marilyn took pride in her home—it was a place of comfort and was always spotless.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay Spangler, Kankakee, Illinois; and her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey A. and Kristi Spangler, Logansport; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Spangler; four siblings, Doris Ann Laymon, Carolyn Markley, Barbara Fouts and Gene Edward Fouts; her grandchildren, Tricia Cundiff, Sheila Cundiff, Jacob Ashcraft, Amanda Dalton, Ariel Schall, Eric Cundiff, Abigail Ashcraft, Michael Spangler, Josiah Ashcraft, Luke Spangler and Karis Spangler; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Michael "Spanky" Spangler; one daughter, Terry (Jim) Cundiff; one brother, Charlie Fouts; and her granddaughter, Naomi Ashcraft.

A funeral celebrating Marilyn's life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Keith Treadway officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, near Denver.

In appreciation for the wonderful care she received at Woodbridge, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodbridge Patient Activity fund.
