After retiring, Louanna enjoyed painting and appreciated the friendship of other artists. She won several honors in painting and served as a show judge several times. She belonged to the Pulaski County Art Association, was a life member of the Logansport Art Association, and held membership in the Hoosier Art Salon in Indianapolis.
