Lawrence M. Gingrich (Larry) Obituary

Valparaiso, IN - Lawrence Michael Gingrich, 75, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

He was born Feb. 1, 1951, in Logansport, Indiana to William C. and Elizabeth (Houk) Gingrich, graduated from Logansport High School and received a bachelor's degree from Purdue North Central. Larry began his career with NIPSCO for 18 years as an engineer, transitioned to a position with Indiana Harbor Railroad for five years training employees for the technical aspects required, and concluded as a Financial Representative with the Airey Agency in Merrillville.

Larry was so proud of each of his children. His Cursillo experience was a turning point in Larry's life. He cherished his Cursillista brothers and sisters. He loved boating on the local lakes and taught many family members to water ski. Cruising the Midwest on his Honda Goldwing always brought a smile to his face along with lighting off fireworks for any occasion that he thought deserved the honor. His last spoken words as a message to all and repeated successively were, "Be at peace, be at peace."

On Oct. 7, 1972, he married Nancy Lou Nicoll who preceded him in death in 1983. On June 24, 1988, he married Mary H. Stevenson who survives along with his children: Michael L. Gingrich of Logansport, Mark E. (Danielle) Gingrich of Valparaiso, Mary R. (Eric) Wilcox of Naperville, Illinois & Matthew J. (Belinda) Gingrich of Morgan Township; grandchildren: Campbell, Griffin, Lily, Benjamin, Vivian, Addison and Anna; and his brothers: Paul W. (Kimberly) Gingrich of New York and Daniel J. (Peggy) Gingrich of Logansport.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Rebecca Marie Gingrich in 1973; and his sister, Janet E. (Gingrich) Mullineaux.
