Kathryn Sholty, 99, Peru, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017.

She was born April 22, 1917 in Onward to Bert A. and Stella Rinehart Byers.

She graduated from Onward High School in 1935 and married John A. Sholty in Peru on Sept. 28, 1935.

She was a member of the "Byers Sisters Singing Trio," Peru Main Street United Methodist Church and the Miami County Historical Society.

Kathryn retired in 1976 from Torin Corp. in Rochester and was a member of Local 947, where she had been a union committeeman.

She is survived by her daughter, Nyla Kay Webster, Bahama, North Carolina; sons Terry Robert Sholty (Susie), Hagerstown, Maryland, and Danny David Sholty, Peru; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sons John Rolland Sholty and William Michael Sholty; two grandchildren, DeeAnn Webster Pegram and William Coty Sholty; one great-grandchild, Brandon Rairigh; three brothers, Harry, Jennings and Rolland Byers; and two sisters, Ferne Bowman and Bernice White.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., in Peru. Burial will follow at Deer Creek Cemetery in Onward.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
