Karen Sue Martin Obituary

Avon, IN - In Loving Memory of Karen Martin.

With deep sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of Karen Martin, 71, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cherished friend, and a woman whose strength, independence, and loving heart touched many throughout her life.

Karen lived with determination, resilience, and a warmth that made those around her feel welcomed and loved. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor, deeply valued family and friendship, and formed bonds that remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Karen proudly spent 27 years serving as a Second Cook aboard Merchant Marine ships, a career she deeply loved and one that reflected both her adventurous spirit and remarkable work ethic.

She held a lifelong love for her grandparents, Nellie and Charles Harbert, often looking at their photograph and sharing how deeply she missed them, even decades after their passing.

She shared an especially close bond with her brother, Gary Martin, who was not only her brother but her lifelong best friend. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Donna Henry, Tom Henry, and Virgil Martin, as well as her beloved brothers, Larry Martin and Gary Martin. She is survived by her brother, Timmy Collier.

Karen treasured a lifelong friendship with her dear friend and former sister-in-law, Tonya Grube, whose love and loyalty remained a constant throughout her life.

She was deeply loved by her daughter, Angela (David) Simons, who remained by her side with unwavering devotion, and was a proud grandmother to Kyle, Lexi, Colin and Olivia, each of whom brought tremendous joy to her life.

Karen also held great affection for David, son-in-law, whose funny stories, kindness and support meant so much to her. She affectionately referred to him as "the Hubby"

Karen will be remembered for her strength, loyalty, loving heart and the deep love she gave so freely to those fortunate enough to know her.

She will be forever loved, deeply missed and never forgotten.
