Winamac, IN - John G. "Jack" Goble, 89, of Winamac went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

He passed away peacefully at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. Jack was born on Jan. 10, 1937, in Francesville, to the late Purl T. and Gladys O. (Evernham) Goble. He was a 1955 graduate of Francesville High School, and earned a bachelor's degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette. On Dec. 23, 1956, Jack married Carol A. McDonald in Monon. While living in married student housing at Purdue, they became the proud parents of two daughters.

After graduating from college, Jack was an agriculture school teacher for five years. During this time, Jack and Carol welcomed their first son. Jack earned a master's degree from Purdue and changed careers, working as a soil specialist. Somewhere during this time, their last son came into the world, and the Goble family was complete. Carol passed away in 1985 following a brave battle with cancer. On June 7, 1987, Jack married Terry L. Brockett in Winamac. This union expanded the family, welcoming three more adult children to the Goble clan. They made their home on the Tippecanoe River and were married for 21 years before Terry passed away in 2008.

Once again, Jack found companionship, and married a local widow, Joyce A. Bailey. They were married on March 5, 2011, in Winamac. Joyce's kids loved him as their own father, and he loved them back. Jack and Joyce cherished time spent with each other and especially enjoyed their large family get-togethers around the holidays.

Jack dedicated most of his working life to Farm Bureau Co-Op. He never truly retired, but rather just faded into the sunset. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed mowing, gardening, and tinkering on various projects. He was a Civil War history buff and cherished numerous trips to Civil War battle grounds, including the reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg on its 135th anniversary. Jack devoted his life to faith, service, and family. He was a longtime member of the Winamac First United Methodist Church, Gideon's International and Winamac Lions Club. In 2016, Jack was awarded the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award from Lions Club International. This award was bestowed upon him for his dedication to humanitarian service to the highest degree.

Jack deeply loved his large, blended family. He was incredibly supportive of all his grandchildren's activities, of which Jack didn't miss much. While our family miss him, we are overjoyed knowing that Jack is at peace in the arms of Jesus.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Bailey Goble of Winamac; his children, Shirley A. Shidler of Indianapolis, Susan A. (husband: Bill) Goble Morris of Rochester, Stuart A. (wife: Doris) Goble of Upland, Steven T. (wife: Lori) Brockett of Dallas, Texas, Wendy K. (husband: David) Wohlpart of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Michael D. Brockett of Indianapolis, Juleen R. Bailey of Indianapolis, Glenn A. (wife: Dawn) Bailey of Winamac, David W. (wife: Amy) Bailey of Star City and Jennifer L. Belcher of Winamac; a daughter-in-law, Leanne Goble Applegate of Plainfield; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.

Preceded in death by his parents, Purl T. and Gladys O. (Evernham) Goble; his first wife, Carol A. (McDonald) Goble; his second wife, Terry L. (Garman) Goble; a son, Scott A. Goble; and a grandson, Will Morris; as well as his siblings, Gareth D. Goble, Betty E. Doll and Shirley A. Overman.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. EDT Friday, July 17, 2026, at Frain Mortuary, 305 E. Main St., Winamac. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Winamac First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Spring St., Winamac, with the Rev. Jeff Herron officiating. Burial will take place at Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac. Memorial Contributions may be made to Winamac First United Methodist Church or Gideon's International.
