James Allen Plew Obituary

Logansport, Indiana - James "Jim" Allen Plew, 77, formerly of Logansport, Indiana, passed away at his home in Vero Beach, Florida on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025.

Born Feb. 17, 1948, in Michigan City, Indiana, he was the son of the late Wayne and Thelma Plew.

On March 21, 1975, Jim married Kay (Colwell) Plew, who preceded him in death in 2000.

Jim graduated from Elston High School (Michigan City, Indiana) in 1966, the year Elston won their only state basketball championship (Go Devils!). Jim earned a degree in geology from Indiana State University in 1970, and after serving in the Army during Vietnam, he began his career at Engineering Aggregates in Logansport, retiring in 2014 after 35 years.

Most evenings and weekends, Jim could be found on the golf course, where he was known as 'Rubber-band Man' because of his extensive backswing. His other passion was conservation, working extensively with Little Turtle Waterway in Logansport.

After retirement, Jim moved to Vero Beach, Florida to spend more time with his partner, Kim Zook.

Also surviving are Jim's two children: Melissa (Daniel Wair) Plew of Statesboro, Georgia and Daniel Plew of Logansport, Indiana.
