James R. "Jim" Plantz, 41, of Logansport, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne.

Born on Sept. 25, 1978 in Rochester, he was the son of Donald and Lisa (Hall) Plantz. Jim was a 1998 Caston High School graduate. He owned and operated his own commercial cleaning business for more than 20 years.

Survivors include his children Zachary Plantz of South Bend, Donald Plantz of LaPorte, James Plantz of Logansport, Christopher Plantz of Logansport and Kyle Plantz of Logansport; his mother, Lisa Plantz of Argos; Jim's longtime girlfriend Cassy Norred of Logansport; brother Kevin (Melisa) Plantz of Fort Wayne; sisters Stacy (Brandon) Collins of Logansport and Hope Grandstaff of Winamac; uncles Rodney Hall of Logansport, Ryan Hall of Fulton, Randy (Kendra) Hall of Fulton, Fred (Molly) Plantz of Florida; aunts Susan Sheane of Georgia and Karen (Mark) Field of Kewanna; and granddaughter Brynleigh Plantz of LaPorte. Jim is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Donald Plantz; maternal grandparents Gary and Theresa Hall and paternal grandparents Robert and Alyce Plantz; uncles Gary Hall and Mark Hall; and aunt, Kathleen King.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Metzger Chapel, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna. A private family service will be held.
