George R. Eckelbarger, Peru, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2016.
He was born July 27, 1929, in Peru, to C.R. and Mary Eckelbarger. He married Ingeborg G. Barth on July 6, 1957, and she preceded him in death.
George retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service.
He was a member of Helm Street Church of God in Logansport.
George is survived by his sons, George R. Jr. and Michael Erich Eckelbarger; three grandsons, two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; brothers Jerry, David and Joe Eckelbarger; and special friends, John and Nancy Gerrard.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife; brothers Max, Jack and Jess Eckelbarger; and sisters Shirley Eckart and Linda Howanic.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Flowers, Leedy Funeral Home, with Pastor George R. Eckelbarger Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
