Gary Lee Terrel Obituary
Frederick, Maryland - Gary Lee Terrel, 78, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Autumn Lakes Healthcare at Braddock Heights in Frederick, Maryland, due to dementia complications.
Born April 14, 1947, in Logansport, Indiana, Gary was the son of Charles and Mary Selvio Terrel. He married Linda Fennimore on April 1, 1972, April Fool's Day. They both enjoyed telling people the date was fitting for their senses of humor, and often mentioned that it snowed on their wedding day. They were married for 42 years until Linda's passing in 2014.
Gary played several sports growing up, including Babe Ruth baseball and the shot put and football at Logansport High School. As a senior on the football team, he earned first team all North Central Conference honors and was named his team's Most Valuable Player. He was deeply touched that his parents never missed any of his games and cherished the memories and friendships he made playing sports for the rest of his life.
Gary was also a lifelong sports fan. He enjoyed motorsports, mainly the Indy 500 and rooting for his favorite driver, Mario Andretti. The New York Yankees and Notre Dame football were his favorite teams since childhood. He especially enjoyed his only trip to Yankee Stadium and the National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in Cooperstown, New York. He loved attending Notre Dame and Green Bay Packer football games and playing golf with his dear friends and family.
After graduating from Ball State University, Gary worked in used car sales for over 25 years in Logansport before moving to Noblesville, where he worked as a school bus driver for Noblesville Schools for 10 years. The children he drove brought him immense joy until his retirement in 2020.
Surviving are Gary's son, Adrian; daughter-in-law, Erika; and grandchildren, Milena and Matthew, all of Frederick Maryland.
A grandson, Andrew Terrel, preceded him in death.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home, where stories and memories will be shared.
A private burial service for immediate family will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Gary loved dogs his entire life. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, that friends and family consider making a memorial contribution to the Cass County Humane Society. Donations can be made via their website or envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
