Newtown, CT - It is with deep sadness we share that Elizabeth "Betty" Reed Mounts lost her courageous battle with cancer on June 22, 2026.

Betty was born on Sept. 11, 1936, to Raymond and Josephine Reed, in Onward, Cass County, Indiana.

After high school she attended Stephens College for two years, and then headed to Purdue University for the final two years of her education, graduating with a BS in Home Economics. While at Purdue, she met the love of her life, Gordon Mounts, with whom she enjoyed 67 years of married life.

Betty is survived by her husband, Gordon Mounts, her daughters, Joy Mounts, Julie Alexander (Dave), Amy Mounts (Darren Snyder); her grandchildren, Sarah Alexander (Harun Sugito), Jason Alexander (Rachel), Elizabeth Doherty (Jay), Rachel Wrenn (Nash), Jacob, Kevin and Sam Snyder-Mounts; her three brothers, Steve (Joyce), Jim (Joni) and Joe Reed; sister-in-law, Donna Sullivan (Ralph); brother-in-law, Harry Mathers; cousins; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on July 18, at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West St.
