Dennis N. Stansbury Obituary

Logansport, IN - Dennis N. Stansbury, 81, Logansport, passed away Thursday morning, June 12, 2025, in his stepdaughter's home in Indianapolis, following a courageous battle with leukemia.

Born Feb. 17, 1944, in Washington, Illinois, he was the son of the late Leslie Monroe Stansbury and Norma Jean (Corder) Stansbury.

A 1962 graduate of Jefferson High School, Dennis went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, graduating in 1966 from Purdue University.

Dennis was married to Janice D. (Neubaum) Sparks, who survives.

Dennis built his career on helping others find financial security. As a top life insurance producer and mentor, he trained agents across Indiana, sharing his deep understanding of planning and investing. His fascination with the stock market was more than numbers—it was about strategy and foresight. In recent years, he brought that same dedication to his role as a senior tax advisor, serving the Lafayette and Kokomo communities. His legacy lives in the trust he built and the lives he impacted—he loved helping people. He was a member of numerous professional organizations including Life Underwriters.

Dennis had a gift for words, whether speaking from the pulpit on occasion or engaging in good conversation. A lifelong reader, he thrived on learning. He found joy in the outdoors—golfing for both the challenge and the camaraderie, feeding the birds, as well as his favorite squirrel "Frosty," and tossing apples to the deer.

His fascination with penguins was a charming surprise—his collection was endless, just like his passion for hot sauce, which knew no bounds; Dennis amassed over 300 bottles and even crafted his own, famously dubbed "Dang Nasty," along with a hot mustard he shared with friends and family. Though Dennis loved to travel, nothing compared to home, where he was happiest, surrounded by family—and his beloved grand-dog, Willow, with whom he shared a special connection.

Surviving with his wife, Janice, are daughter, Kimberly Bledsoe, West Lafayette; son, Dennis H. Stansbury, London, England; stepdaughter, Brianna Kay Sparks Coon (Thomas Walsh), Indianapolis; and stepson Cody J. Sparks, Logansport; one brother, Douglas Stansbury, Lafayette; four grandchildren, Ashlyn (Derrick) Mathews, Ethan Bledsoe, Ciara D. Coon and Kyla E. Coon; six great-grandchildren; niece, Jennifer I. Rowe; and nephew, Travis A. Stansbury.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twin brothers, Edward and Fredrick Stansbury.

Visitation will from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, and from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Chris Dodson officiating.

Burial, at a later date, will be in the Glendale Cemetery, Washington Park, Illinois.
