Darlene J. Starr, 72, Winamac, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette. She was born on May 26, 1944, in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late Charles and Arvella Hoffmann. On Oct. 11, 1961, Darlene married her high school sweetheart, William "Bill" Starr in Centerville, Illinois. He survives.

Darlene was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Winamac. Darlene had worked as a waitress for many years at Matilda's and Colonial Inn in Winamac. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino boat. She also enjoyed collecting angels. Darlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by husband, William "Bill" Starr, Winamac; her children, Dana Marie Starr, Elkhart, Tracy Starr, Rensselaer, and Billy Starr and Darren (Myra) Starr, Winamac; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Gary (Mary) Hoffmann, Fairmont City, Illinois, Larry (Theresa) Hoffmann, Quincy, Illinois, Terry Hoffmann and Norman Hoffmann, Medaryville, Rodger Hoffmann and Paul (Shirley) Hoffman, Winamac, and Martha Kopka, Kansas City; her sister-in-law, Marlene (Dale) Parsons, Collinsville, Illinois; her brother-in-law, Richard (Lee) Starr, Swansea, Illinois; as well as Several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Arvella Hoffmann; her in-laws, Frank and Josephine Starr; her son, Jeffery Starr; her daughter-in-law, Crystal Starr; her grandson, Brandon Starr; her brother, Charles Hoffman; and her brother-in-law, Ernie Kopka.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Winamac. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Frain Mortuary in Winamac and one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday. Burial will be at Mt. Zion-Franklin Township Cemetery.
