Logansport, IN - Charles Frederick "Fred" Turner, 87 of Logansport, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in Logansport Parkview Hospital.

Born June 14, 1938, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of the late Donald "Tub" Turner and Edwena Kate Turner.

On April 7, 1962, in the Onward Christian Church, Fred was united in marriage with the love of his life, Mary Ellen (Grant) Turner, who survives.

A graduate of Peru High School, Fred attended Purdue University.

Fred served as a state trooper with the Indiana State Police. He later worked as an insurance adjuster for State Farm. Fred had also been employed in construction and managed fields.

He was a longtime member of the Onward Christian Church, where he was active in the men's group. Scouting was an important part of his life — he was proud to see his son and grandsons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Fred was also active in the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 66. Family was his priority and he loved spending time with them. He especially enjoyed shooting at the Izaak Walton League with his grandsons. Fred loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving with his wife of 64 years, Mary Ellen Turner, is daughter, Angela Turner; daughter-in-law, Sheri Turner; and six grandchildren, Trevor Turner, Noah Spencer, Conner Henderson, Gabriel Henderson, Elijah Turner and Kayleigh Turner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Barton "Bart" Turner; and his brother, Joseph Turner.

Viewing will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

A Funeral Service celebrating Fred's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, in the funeral chapel, with Pastor Dale Holzbauer officiating.

Burial will follow in the Little Deer Creek Cemetery in Onward, Indiana.
