Charles E. Hawkins, 75, Bunker Hill, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Dukes Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 25, 1942, in Peru to the late Charles Hawkins and Mildred Little. On Dec. 13, 1975, he married Mary C. Ramer, she survives. Mr. Hawkins served the U.S. Army for six years. He was a retired truck driver after 25 years. In some of his retirement years he and his wife spent winters in Texas and Arizona. They enjoyed traveling together. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. He loved camping, traveling and spending time with his family. He is survived by six sons, Charles A. Hawkins (Janel) of Santa Fe, Lee Hawkins (Hannah) of Peru, Donnie White of Florida, Stefan Hawkins (Madaline) of Peru, Bryan Hawkins (Amy) of Peru, Robert White (Charlotte) of Bunker Hill; five daughters, Debbie (late Ervin) Shrock of Peru, Vickie (Brian) Boruff of Bunker Hill, Patty (Jim) Books of Peru, Margie (Kenny) Morgan of Peru, Christy White of Logansport; 36 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sally (Byron) Kosanke of Bunker Hill; and several nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Charlene Hawkins and Tina Salinas; two brothers, David Hawkins and Terry Little; three sisters, Judy Fatkin, Connie Alva and Sarahlyn Hawkins; and three grandchildren, Steven Ford, Lauren Earnest and baby Earnest. A celebration of life will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Free Will Baptist Church, Bunker Hill, with Pastor Bill Sheets officiating. A military service will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be given to Free Will Baptist Church in c/o Mary Hawkins. Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

June - December

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
