Charles "Chuck" Ross Obituary

Lebanon, Indiana - Mr. Charles "Chuck" Ross, 70, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born September 30, 1955, in Logansport, son of the late Charles Frederick and JoAnn Etta (Cassidy) Ross.

Chuck married the love of his life, Gayle Grabner, on June 26, 1993, and she survives.

A 1973 graduate of Logansport High School, Chuck went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business from Purdue University and a Master's in sports administration from Ohio University.

Following school, Chuck began his career as a ticket manager for the Indianapolis Indians and box office manager for Market Square Arena, later moving into event promotion. Gifted at connecting people, he forged strong business relationships that led to a joint venture in Japan within the machine tool industry. He, along with his wife Gayle, later founded CA Ross Company, specializing in architectural woodworking and restoration. Most recently, Chuck shared his business insight as a consultant, guiding business owners through exit planning strategies.

Chuck had a lifelong love of sports — from playing baseball and wrestling in high school to wrestling at Purdue. After college he became an avid golfer. He also enjoyed working out, particularly CrossFit, and found great fulfillment in training individuals of all ages. Family was central to his life, and he took great joy in supporting his granddaughter and nephews in their athletic endeavors. A curious learner, he loved reading and sharing his knowledge.

A strong advocate for Mesothelioma awareness, Chuck counseled other Mesothelioma patients and worked with the Department of Defense, helping to educate and evaluate grants. Above all, Chuck was a faithful follower of Christ and was devoted to living out His word. He was a member of Zionsville Fellowship Church and prior to that was actively involved in all aspects of church life at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Logansport.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Gayle Ross of Lebanon; sons, Jason Ross of Charlotte, NC, and Byron (Amanda) Ross of Indian Land, SC; granddaughters, Jameson, Kyleigh, and Brooklynn Ross; sister, Patti (Eric) Wolf of Carmel; seven nephews, two nieces, and three great nephews and three great nieces.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Amanda (Jason) Ross.

Family and friends will gather Sunday, November 2, for visitation from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Zionsville Fellowship Church, 9090 Oak Street, Zionsville, IN 46077. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 3, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior at the church. Chuck will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (www.curemeso.org,) Zionsville Fellowship Church, or charity of your choice.

Final care of Chuck has been entrusted to Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. You are invited to visit the funeral home's website at www.strawmyerdrury.com to sign the online register and leave a personal message for the family.
