Carolyn L. Emery Claiborne, 79, of Monticello, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at 8:10 a.m. at IU White Memorial Hospital, Monticello.

She was born May 4, 1939 in Logansport to the late Ulysses Ralph & Josephine Vore Emery. Her marriage was to Robert H. Claiborne Sr. in Logansport on Dec. 15, 1956, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1990.

She attended school in Logansport. She worked for over 10 years at the Delphi Community High School as part of the cleaning staff. She enjoyed gardening, canning her home grown goodies, cooking and her two dogs, Dixie and Boo. She dearly loved her family, and loved to be around her grandchildren.

Surviving are sons Anthony "Tony" (Tracy) Claiborne of Delphi, Robert L. Claiborne Jr. of Delphi, Brian (Bonnie) Claiborne of Logansport, and William (Tina) Claiborne of Monticello; daughters Genice Claiborne and Butch Haas of Americus and Peggy (Gary) Johns of Monon; sister Delores Parish of Logansport; brother Butch Emery of New Waverly; half sister Brenda Emery of Logansport; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Sonny and Cletus and a great-granddaughter, Tenley.

Services: Friends may call Monday from 10:30 a.m. until her funeral service at noon at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Rev Ed Selvidge officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Run Cemetery, Delphi. http://www.abbottfuneralhome.com
