Billy "Jack" Isom, 82, of Logansport (formerly of Monticello), passed away at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at the Vitas Inpatient Center of Delray, Florida, with his wife by his side.
He was born on Tuesday, July 21, 1936 in Bear Branch, Wise County, Virginia, to the late Lawrence Snodgrass and O'Beatrice Baker. On Feb. 19, 1955, in Wise, Virginia, he married Ruby Joan Dotson; she passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012. Then on Aug. 3, 2013, in Logansport he married Shirley Schlinglof; she survives.
Jack and his first wife, Ruby, had lived in the Monticello area since 1965, coming from Wise, Virginia.
He, and Ruby, started the former Jack Isom Construction Company of Reynolds in 1968.
Jack and his wife, Shirley, moved to Logansport in October of 2018.
He was a member of the Monticello Christian Church of Monticello.
Jack enjoyed fishing, flying, pheasant hunting, wild turkey hunting, gambling and traveling in his RV.
He was a workaholic and worked worked worked all the time.
Surviving are wife, Shirley Isom of Logansport (formerly of Monticello); daughter, Tricia (husband Tom) Kite of Monticello; sons, Bill (wife Cindy), and Benny Isom, both of Monticello; stepson, Rick (wife Roberta) Schlinglof of Logansport; stepson-in-law, Michael Murphy of Fayetteville, Georgia; six grandchildren, Chis (wife Amanda) Isom of Indianapolis, Justin (wife Leslie) Isom of Monticello, Sara Isom of Indianapolis, Mark (wife Martha) Isom of Los Angeles, California, Hanna (husband Sean) Manahan of Monticello, and Brandy (husband Cory) Wilbanks of Harvest, Alabama; five step-grandchildren, Nicole Coldiron, Justin (wife Taylor) Schlinglof, and Jared (wife Jessica) Schlinglof, all of Logansport, and Christopher and Dorothy Murphy, both of Fayetteville, Georgia; 13 great-grandchildren, and two on the way; brothers, Toney (wife Bonnie), and Carol (wife Mary Lou) Isom, both of Monticello; sister, Loujean (husband Bill) Pendergraft of Anderson; sisters-in-law, Loretta Isom of Orlando, Florida, Shirley Franklin of Logansport, Margie (husband Johnny) Proffitt of Blountville, Tennessee, and Vicki L. Isom of Monticello; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Lawrence and Beulah Snodgrass; mother and stepfather, O'Beatrice (Baker) Robert Isom; first wife, Ruby Jean (Dotson) Isom; stepdaughter, Sherry Murphy; brothers, Freddie, Richard D. "Rich", Jimmy, and Wayne Snodgrass; sisters, Alice Maples and Janice Russell; and grandson, Corey Isom.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at the funeral home with the Rev. Clark Miller of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Logansport officiating.
Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.
Memorials may be given to the wishes of the Donor. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
