Wilbur Scott "Marty" Martindale, 78, of Star City passed away at 11:18 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac.
Marty was born on February 22, 1941 in Oak to the late Joseph Scott and Florence Tomlinson Martindale. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Donna (Jim) Woodard, Stella Dilts, Infant Bessie Irene Martindale, Gert (Skeet) Thomas and Homer (Freda Lloyd) Martindale. Marty served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was a life member of the Winamac VFW Post #1728. On November 26, 1997, Marty married Erlinda "Linda" Quitay in Tanjay, Philippines. She survives. He is also survived by his children, Marty Martindale of Monticello, Marshall (Shannon) Martindale of Pittsburgh, PA and Marlynn Martindale of Star City; his Grandchildren, Garrett, Brock, Kennady and Presley; his siblings, George (Carol) Martindale of Star City, Virgil (Linda) Martindale of Humpston, IA, Mildred (Eldon) Kinzie of Logansport, Carolyn "Kay" (Jeff Henderson) Malott of Logansport, Joe (Cecilia) Martindale of Kewanna, Jim (Brenda) Martindale of Logansport; as well as Many Nieces and Nephews.
Marty was a member at All Saints Catholic Church in Logansport for 20 years and most recently was attending St. Peter Catholic Church in Winamac. Marty was a retired Manager at Plymouth Tube where he had worked for 41 years. In his younger years, Marty liked racing sprint cars at Rensselaer, Oxford and Plymouth. He also liked watching NASCAR and attending tractor pulls. He was very talented with his hands and enjoyed fixing old cars and could repair anything. Marty especially enjoyed the outdoors, including gardening, mowing, cutting firewood and riding his bicycle on the Panhandle Pathway. Marty was well known for his New Year's Eve party at the "Party Room" in his garage. He lived a well-rounded life and was very supportive of his friends and family.
Marty will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. Visitation 4-8 p.m. and Rosary 8 p.m. Tuesday at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. The rosary will be followed by a Eulogy. Funeral Mass 10 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Winamac. Military honors will take place at Buck Cemetery in Thornhope. Memorial Contributions to St. Peter Catholic Church.
