Viola Jean DeWeese, 73, Logansport, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis. Born Oct. 27, 1943, in Elvins, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Gregory) Benton.
In March of 1976, in Farmington, Missouri, Viola was married to Henry DeWeese who preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1994.
Viola retired from working as a production assembler and QC inspector at Controls, Inc. in 2002.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, puzzles and spending time with her family.
Viola is survived by two sons, Daniel Troyd (Anna) Johnson, Lucerne, and Richard Earl Humm, Logansport; three daughters, Juanita Ann (Russell) Ribnek, Lafayette, Bonnie Lynn Humm, Logansport, and Sandi (Greg) Korreckt, Logansport; three half-brothers, Marion (Kum-Suk) Scott Jr., Farmington, Missouri, Frank Scott, Minnesota, and Robert (Terri) Scott, Seymour; one sister, Bonnie (Richard) Hitzemann, Americus; one half-sister, Rita Ann Scott, Vanceburg, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren, Amber (Derek) Beatty, Alecia (Brad) Newkirk, Levi James, Courtney Johnson, Rickie Ingle, Elizabeth Humm, Deanna Johnson, Bryce Michael, Rebecca Humm, Zachary Ingle, Mikayla Humm and Carley Johnson; and five great-grandchildren, Griffin Voglund-Humm, Graisyn Humm, Olivia Beatty, Gatlyn Newkirk and Michael Burris IV.
A funeral service celebrating Viola's life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the service in the chapel. A private burial will take place in the Ever Rest Memorial Park.
