Vancel Keith Armstrong, 78, of Lucerne, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 in his residence surrounded by his family.
Born June 24, 1939 in Arbela, Missouri, he was the son of the late Ora Earl and Margaret (Wright) Armstrong.
On Oct. 2, 1999 in Fletchers Lake United Methodist Church he married Patricia Ann Sutton, who survives.
Vance was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the Air Force. He was a former Scout Master, excellent woodworker and euchre player. He enjoyed working on the farm, raising animals and spending time with family.
Vance retired from Western and Southern Life Insurance where he was a salesman. He also worked at the Cass County Home.
Surviving along with his wife Pattie are two daughters, Denise (Joe) Shideler, Logansport, and Diane (Scott) Bruce, Logansport; two sons, Bryan Armstrong, Logansport, and Gary (Chris) Armstrong, Logansport; two step-sons, Tom (Kellie) Roush, Portage, and Troy (Jennifer) Roush, Lucerne; two sisters, Kathleen Schultz, Illinois, and Delma Kelley, Texas; two brothers, Darrell Armstrong, California, and Dallas Armstrong, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death are four sisters and five brothers.
A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday Oct. 19, 2017 at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor David Sommers officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Bible Grove Cemetery, Missouri.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until time of services on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 at Gundrum Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Fletchers Lake United Methodist Church.
The Armstrong family has entrusted Gundrum Funeral Home and Crematory with arrangements.
