Thomas Lee Keplar

June 24, 1937 - January 31, 2019

Thomas Lee Keplar Thomas Lee Keplar, 82, of Logansport passed away in the evening of Jan. 31 at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California.
He was born on June 24, 1937 in Cass County to the late Norman and Esteline Keplar. On June 21, 1957 he exchanged vows with Loretta Campbell who was at his side when he passed.
Tom graduated from Logansport High School in 1955 and then served in the U.S. Navy for four years until 1959. Upon returning to Logansport, Tom began working for General Telephone Co. where he was employed until 1984 when he and his bride Loretta purchased Amelio's Bar and Restaurant, which they ran together until 2008 when they sold the restaurant and retired.
Tom was very active in the community of Logansport that he loved dearly. Early on, he was a member of the local Jaycees and the Eagles Club. He was a Boy Scout Leader where he was awarded the Scouts' highest honor, the Silver Beaver, for outstanding service for the organization.
Later organization involvements include being a Life Member of the VFW and member of the Murat Shriners of Indianapolis and the American Legion.
Tom also served two terms as a Cass County Councilman.
Tom and Loretta traveled to many destinations and were always excited to see different parts of the world.
Tom is survived by his bride of 62 years, Loretta (Campbell), his son John, his son-in-law Bob Eggleston, and his granddog Barney all of Palm Springs, California. Tom also has two surviving sisters: Sue Ellen (John) Gaebler of Indianapolis and Ann Lynn Keplar of Logansport.
Tom's ashes will be returning to Logansport in April and a service or celebration of his life will be held at that time.
