Robert "Bounce" S. Peterson, 88, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017.
He was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Holmen, Wisconsin, to Melford and Elizabeth (Kenyon) Peterson.
Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. On Aug. 6, 1955, he married Barbara Merrell at St. James Catholic Church, La Crosse, Wisconsin, and were blessed with two children, Karen and Ken.
In 1963 Robert and Barbara moved to Logansport, where they owned and operated the B&K East Root Beer Stand.
Robert is survived by wife, Barbara; two children, Karen (Mike) Hardy of Logansport; and Ken (Diane) Peterson of Verona, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Stacie (Jason) Criswell of Idaville, Sarah (Kurt) Erickson of Verona, Wisconsin, Kristen (Payton) Farrer of Royal Center, and Nicholas Peterson of Verona, Wisconsin; seven great-grandchildren, Ethan and Easton Criswell, Claire and Olivia Erickson, and Kendalyn, Alexi and Kolton Farrer; two brothers, Richard (Carol) Peterson and Gary Peterson, both of Onalaska, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen; his parents; in-laws, Florence and Delbert Merrell; a brother, Melvin Peterson; and a sister, Judith (Henry) Mayer.
A Mass of Christian burial with military honors will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 515 N. Main St., Holmen, Wisconsin. The Reverend John Parr will officiate and burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse, Wisconsin.
A visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 809 Gillette St., La Crosse, and again 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Gundersen Hospice Program, or Gundersen Medical Foundation, 1836 South Ave. La Crosse, WI 54601.
