Robert L. Gordon Sr., 93, Lucerne, went home to be with the Lord at 9:24 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Kewanna, to Eugene L. and Maude A. (Robbins) Gordon. He married Rose Ann Daugherty on May 28, 1950, in Fulton, and she survives.
He graduated from Macy High School, the International Business College, Manchester University and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville and earned his master's degree from Indiana University.
Bob taught at Lewis Cass Jr.-Sr. High School from 1964 to 1985. He pastored several churches: Miami Baptist Church, Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Adams and Mill Creek Baptist Church in Mill Creek.
Surviving family include his wife, Rose Ann Gordon, Lucerne; daughter, Ruth G. (Wayne) Wanner, Stone Mountain, Georgia; two sons, Robert (Sarah) Gordon Jr., Lucerne, and David (Candice) Gordon, Torrance, California; and daughter, Elizabeth Bush of Macy; grandchildren, Andrea Corso, Emily Gordon and Sara Phillips; great grandchildren, Jack and Chance Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son and his siblings.
A celebration of life service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.
Friends may visit from 2 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
It was Bob's wish that everyone wear bright colors to the services.
Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston is in charge of arrangements.
