Reverend Pat's Story
Reverend Pat Tobin, 83, of Arlington passed away at Firelands Hospital in Sandusky on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1934 in Peoria, Illinois to the late Dr. Patrick J. and Elizabeth Carolyn (Erxleben) Tobin.
He married Ruth Ann Richter on May 12, 1967 and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Patrick Sean (Nancy) Tobin of Dunkirk and Phillip Tobin of Star City; two daughters, Colleen Tobin of Cary, Illinois and Kimberly (Chris) Sorce of Bedminster, New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Erin Tobin of Dunkirk, PFC Colin Tobin of Ft. Stewart, Georgia, Joseph (Kayla) Tobin, Thomas Tobin, Brian Tobin, James Tobin all of Indiana and Hana Sorce of New Jersey; and two great-granddaughters, Raven and Audrey. A half-brother, Phillip Tobin, was killed at Pearl Harbor during WWII.
Pat served his country during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at many military bases and was in the Strategic Air Command. He served in both the Army and Air Force. As a minister, his career took him to numerous Methodist churches in Northern Indiana.
A celebration of Reverend Pat's life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Steven Edmiston officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. at the church Saturday prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Veterans' Home in Sandusky or to St. Paul Church.
