Megan Renee Stines, 17, Kokomo, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017. Born April 24, 1999, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Brett Alan Stines and Stephanie Lyn (Scheffler) Stines. She attended Kokomo High School and received her diploma from the Kokomo Excel Center in 2016.
Megan had a love for animals and had worked at the Kokomo Humane Society, and was currently working at Pet's Choice in Kokomo. Megan was a kind, caring and compassionate soul who touched many lives. She had the ability to always bring a smile to your face.
Survivors include her parents, Brett Alan (Stephanie Lyn) Stines, Kokomo; her maternal grandparents, Marvin and Connie Scheffler, Tarpon Springs, Florida; paternal grandmother, Gloria Stines, Logansport; maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Scheffler, Tipton; paternal great-grandmother, Betty Smith, Lucerne; one uncle, Brian (Shannon) Stines, Logansport; and three cousins, Erik Stines, Lilly Scheffler and Joey Scheffler.
Megan was preceded in death by one uncle, Doug Scheffler.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo. Megan's great-uncle, Pastor Ken Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Albright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
In honor of Megan's passion for love and care of animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Kokomo Humane Society, with envelopes available at the mortuary.
