Mary Jo (Tanguy)'s Story

Mary Jo Nugent, 55, formerly of Logansport, passed away peacefully Monday evening, Sept. 4, 2017, in her home in Wilmington, Illinois.
Born Nov. 9, 1961, in Logansport, Mary Josephine is a daughter of DeDe (Lang) Tanguy, Logansport, and the late Victor Tanguy. She was raised and educated in Logansport, and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Indiana State University.
On Sept. 13, 1986, Mary Jo married Ray Nugent. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wilton Center.
Mary Jo's career was in law enforcement, and she retired as a sergeant from Oak Brook Police Department in 2014, following 27 years of dedicated service.
She had a love of horses, and always enjoyed being with friends. Mary Jo will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile and zest for life.
Survivors include her husband, Ray; mother, DeDe Tanguy; siblings, Gretchen (Keith) Morgan, Greenwood, Lindy (Walt) Deeter, Walton, Polly (Brad) Shilling, Logansport, Duke Tanguy, Plymouth, and Kate (Jim) Herr, Arcadia; her uncle, Robert F. "Bud" (Inez) Lang, Poway, California; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rose (Joe) May, Oak Lawn, Bob Nugent, Bridgeview, Bill Nugent, Wisconsin, Dorothy (Keith) Jones, St. Charles, Pat (Rich) Whitaker, Batavia, Tom Nugent, Mundelein, Marilyn (Ed) Fey, Orland Park, and Louise Nugent, Chicago Ridge; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as countless friends.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father, Victor Tanguy.
A memorial visitation and celebration of Mary Jo's life was held at the Baskerville Funeral Home in Wilmington.
The funeral mass will be at All Saints Catholic Church, at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, with Father Dominic Petan officiating.
The visitation will also be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at Kroeger Funeral Home.
