Born June 1, 1924, in La Paz in Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Hilda (Stookey) Maroney.
On Aug. 9, 1946, in the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church, she was married to Alfred A. Schlaug. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 2000.
Marilyn graduated from Metea High School. She retired from General Tire in 1982 where she had as a quality control inspector for over 36 years.
She is survived by one brother, Larry (Carole) Maroney, Lucerne; three sisters, Sister James Agnes, Mishawaka, Phyllis Inman and Patricia "Sue" Kiesling, both of Logansport; one sister-in-law, Patricia Maroney, Lucerne; several nieces and nephews; and the residents and staff of Miller's Merry Manor who became an extension of her family the past several years.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond and Bill Maroney; and two sisters, Eileen Musselman and Barb Clary.
A funeral service celebrating Marilyn's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dirk Raderstorf officiating.
Interment will follow in Ever Rest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service in the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Hospital for Children.
