Marcella M. Yerkes, 96, Camden, died unexpectedly at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 10, 1921, in South Whitley to Halbert E. and Helen Rupley.
She was married in Logansport to Lloyd R. Yerkes on Oct. 2, 1938.
Marcella and Lloyd were co-owners of Yerkes Trucking Company.
Marcella was an active member of the Christian Science Church in Kokomo, and served as a Reader during services.
She was a member of the Camden Preservation Club and a supporter of many Camden community programs. Marcella loved being outside, and on any nice day, Marcella could be seen on her front porch enjoying her home and community.
Surviving is her best friend and companion, Bud Kesling; sons, Larry Joe (Pat) Yerkes, Camden, and Steven Lynn (Fran) Yerkes, Logansport; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, Aug. 22, at Cree Funeral Home of Camden, with Stan Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Camden Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Camden-Jackson Township Public Library.
