Larry D. Pownell, 79, Logansport, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Woodbridge Health Campus in Logansport.
Born Sept. 2, 1937, in Phoenix, Arizona, he was the son of the late Helen Pownell. Larry was a car salesman and owner of Larry's Auto for 30 years.
Larry was a 1956 graduate of Grass Creek High School and a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church. He was a pilot and flight instructor with over 7,000 hours of flight time. Larry drove a school bus for Delphi Community Schools for 15 years. Larry also served as a police officer and chief of police in Delphi for seven years.
Surviving are two sons, Bryan Pownell, Bedford, and Troy Pownell, Lafayette; four daughters, Debbie (Brad) Campbell, Florida, Cheryl (Tim) Howell, Logansport, Susan Pownell and Mindy Pownell, both of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren; and an aunt, Mary (John) Marsh, Fairfax, Virginia.
A celebration of life will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, in the Gundrum Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday in the funeral home.
