Larry Joe


Larry Joe "Buck" Johnson, Sr., 78, Logansport, passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, in St. Vincent's Hospital of Indianapolis.
Born Jan. 16, 1941, in Cass County, he was the son of the late Virgil H. and Mary Louise (Parmeter) Johnson.
On April 14, 1984, in the Pisgah Christian Church in Cass County, he was married to Laura Lee (Fickle) Johnson. She preceded him in death June 13, 2010.
For 43 years, Larry worked as a heavy equipment operator for Essroc, which speaks volumes of his character and strong work ethic.
Larry enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and a good game of horseshoes. When it came to NASCAR, he was a loyal Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott fan. Larry loved the outdoors and took great pride in his garden and mowing his lawn. He was a skilled craftsman when it came to woodworking. Larry was also an avid Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers fan. More than anything else, he enjoyed family gatherings which also included his dogs, Gracie and Lilly.
Surviving are three children: Larry Joe Johnson Jr., Mark Johnson and Tina (Greg) Austin; sister Sue (Keith) Julian; grandchildren: Cody, Brock and Amy Johnson, and Cameron and Tanner Austin; great-grandchildren: Ariah, Kyler, Karson and Kreasey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Ann Robinson.
A Funeral Service celebrating Larry's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ryan Lewellen officiating.
Burial will follow at Clymers Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 as well as one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral chapel.
