K. Jay "Mac"'s Story
K. Jay "Mac" McKinley, 77, Kokomo, passed away at 10:37 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.
He was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Matthews to Francis "Bud" and Lela (Mendenhall) McKinley. He married Nancy Jackson on July 1, 1994, in Kokomo, and she survives.
Jay retired from Chrysler in Kokomo. He pastored several churches over the years in Peru, Galveston, South Holland and was currently serving as senior pastor at Grace Fellowship in Logansport. He also ran a sharpening business for the last 22 years and served on the Galveston Cemetery Board for several years.
Surviving family includes his wife, Nancy McKinley of Kokomo; children, Jeff (Marsha) McKinley of Russiaville, Jim (Debbie) McKinley of Kokomo, and Joanna Brock of Kokomo; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Mason, Rachel, Logan, Lea, Jonathan, Maria and Joshua; and four great-grandchildren, Naomi, Collin, Theodore and Maddux. Jay is also survived by one brother, Jon McKinley, and one sister, Judy Smelser.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Janet Anderson; sister, Rose; and four brothers, Dale, Jim, Dean and Billy.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Jim Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home and one hour before service time on Saturday.
