Josephine Elizabeth Flinn, 94, Logansport, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, in WoodBridge Health Campus.
Born Aug. 26, 1923, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Harry and Winifred VanBuskirk Newby.
On Feb. 20, 1947, in Logansport, she was married to Harold Eugene Flinn, who preceded her in death Aug. 23, 2002.
A graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis, she was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, serving in World War II.
Jo was retired in 1986 from the Logansport State Hospital after 30 years of employment.
She was a member of the Olde Towne Chaper, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Jo was proud of being a member of the Logansport Women's Softball Team that won the state final championship game in the 1940s.
Surviving are daughters, Pamela Kindem (Dave Rhodes), Karen Leazenby and Patricia (Terry) Knapp and a son, Michael Newby (Janet) Flinn, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Andrea Leazenby, Brian Flinn, Michelle (Mike) Anders, Stephanie Hardesty and Nicholas Knapp; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Leazenby and Ender Frame.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Anders officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Legion Circle at Mount Hope Cemetery.
The DAR will conduct a memorial service at 12:55 p.m. Monday, just prior to the funeral.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, also at the funeral home.
