John David Hardin, 85, Logansport, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, in his residence.
Born Dec. 22, 1931, in Gary, he was the son of the late John David and Louise A. (Bohannon) Hardin. On Aug. 24, 1958, in Logansport, he married Janet S. Fellers, who preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 2007.
John was a retired conductor from the Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60. John enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Cubs.
Surviving are two sons, David W. (Vickie) Hardin and Richard L. (Tammi) Hardin, both of Logansport; grandchildren, Richelle Hardin of Logansport and Mitchell L. (Christina) Hardin of Texas; stepgrandchildren, Randy Alcorn of San Diego, California, and Megan (Ryan) Jones of Logansport; great-grandchildren, Hope and Euriah Baker of Logansport, M.J. Hardin and Maya of Bastrop Texas, and Rylan Jones and Keeley Jones, both of Logansport; nephew, Butch Hardin, Warsaw; and nieces, Sherry Rahe of Anderson and Jeri Lynn Mayhew of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Hardin; a brother, Robert William Hardin; a sister, Marilyn Virginia Mayhew; and a nephew, Anthony Michael Hardin.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, in the Gundrum Funeral Home with the Rev. Aaron Gross officiating. Burial with full military graveside rites will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, also in the funeral home.
