Jerry J. Arnold, 73, Logansport, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at his residence.
Born June 3, 1944, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Janet E. (Snyder) Arnold. On Dec. 4, 1977, in Rochester, Jerry married Janet Smith, who survives.
Jerry worked for the Cass County Sheriff's Department from 1968 to 1971. He then was hired onto the Logansport Police department in 1972 and served as Chief of Police in Logansport from 1992-1999 before retiring in 2000. After retiring from the police department, Jerry worked for INDOT until 2009.
Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Logansport High School. He was a member of the FOP Lodge 71 and the Wise Guys. Jerry enjoyed mushroom hunting and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.
Surviving along with his wife, Janet, is a son, Jason (Holly) Arnold, Mentone; sister, Susan (Jack) Mayfield, Carmel; brother, David S. Arnold, Logansport; granddaughters Alexis Burge and Bella Arnold; nieces, Kris Mayfield, Indianapolis, and Julie Middleton, Silver Lake; and nephew, Jeff Hoffman, Rochester.
A celebration of life will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Smith officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the local FOP Lodge 71.
