Janet  Barker


Janet Elaine Barker, 69, Kokomo, passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born Aug. 28, 1949, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Homer and Helen (Ridenour) Moffitt. On Feb. 27, 1971, she married Steven Barker and he survives.
Janet was a 1967 graduate of Kokomo High School. She retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #292.
She enjoyed making Christmas stockings, piano playing, genealogy and collecting cooking cutters, Hallmark ornaments and owls. Janet also enjoyed oldies music, Gator rides, volunteering in any and all school activities and anything to do with her grandchildren.
Steve always called Janet his city girl turned farm girl.
Along with her husband Steve, Janet is survived by her children, Tammy (Mark) Moyer, Clint (Julie) Barker, and Jennifer Barker; grandchildren, Mallory Lee, Chelsea Dixson, Brenden Eades, Alex Bentley, Caileigh Eades, Chloe Barker, Cameron Eades, Dalton Eades and Brody Barker; three great-grandchildren; siblings, David (Jane) Moffitt and Cindy (Sam) Kauffman; sister-in-law, Mary (Charlie) Elmore; and brother-in-law, Donnie Simmons along with several nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronald Moffitt; mother- and father-in-law, George and Florence Barker; and sisters-in-law, Judy Simmons and Bonnie Evans.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
