Jack's Story

Jack W. Rush, 86, Westfield, passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Wellbrooke of Westfield.
He was born April 8, 1931 to the late William and Bessie (Sloop) Rush in Logansport. Stationed out of California, Jack served in the Navy during the Korean War and the reserves thereafter. Jack's entire career was in construction. He loved traveling, card games, flea markets, picking and antiques, family activities and get-togethers.
Jack is survived by his beloved daughters, Catherine Rush, Wickliffe, Ohio, and Elizabeth Rush, Sheridan; sisters, Loraine Hunter and Loretta Buckles, both of Fort Wayne; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Bergmann, Colorado, and Cheryl Tonn, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also a special "dad" to Anita Otterman, Sheridan, and Charlene Usrey, Wickliffe, Ohio; as well as "Papa Jack" to Jessica and Emily Otterman.
Jack was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Gloria; son, Daniel; second wife, Virginia; brother, Maurice Rush; and sister, Marjorie Meyer.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Christ United Methodist Church, 318 N. Union St., Westfield, IN 46074. Interment will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
The family extends a special thanks to Wellbrooke of Westfield for the excellent care and love they provided for their father and brother over the past year.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Final Act Fund, a non-profit fund set up by his daughter, Catherine, to assist persons with disabilities in dignified burials as they pass from this life. Donations can be sent to Final Act Fund, 26900 Euclid Avenue, Euclid, OH 44132.
