Harold Burton "Bert" McClellan, 95, Monticello, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017.
He was born June 25, 1922, in Medaryville to the late Harry S. and Meta A. (Stump) McClellan. On Sept. 28, 1946, he married Mary H.L. Hare; she survives.
Bert had lived on their family farm in rural Monticello for the last 57 years, coming from Star City where he had lived for 38 years.
Bert attended school in Star City.
He was a trackman for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 10 years, and then was as a dockman at the former Kain's Motor Service of Logansport for 27 years.
Bert was a United States World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are wife, Mary H.L. McClellan of Monticello; daughters, Diana L. Longbons, and Debra L. "Debbie" (Alan) White, both of Monticello; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, Roy (wife Joan) McClellan of Rochester; and brother-in-law, Jessie Ray "Popeye" Stamper of Winamac.
Bert was preceded in death by sisters, Leona (husband George) Crissinger, and Marilyn Stamper; and brothers, Harry "Junior" (wife Maryann) McClellan, and Bobby (wife Carol) McClellan.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Burial with full military rites by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard of Monticello will be at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at the funeral home.
