Gilbert Marvin DeWitt, age 90, of Logansport, passed away Friday May 10, 2019 at 7:20 am in Wesleyan Health Care Center of Marion.
He was born March 20, 1929 in Royal Center to the late Everett and Esta (Wieand) DeWitt. On Dec. 12, 1958 in Star City, he married Judith Geisler who survives.
Gilbert was a track inspector for Conrail Railroad for 34 years before retiring in May of 1983. He was also a Army Veteran of WWII.
Other survivors include three sons, Derrick DeWitt, Peru; Brian (Kathy) DeWitt, Logansport; Bradley DeWitt, Logansport; two daughters, Sue Walker, Logansport; Keneta (Dennis) Gaillardet, Leesburg, Florida; one brother, Wendall (Carolyn) DeWitt, Logansport; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Gilbert was preceded in death by two brothers, six sisters and one son, Bruce Allen DeWitt.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday May 15, 2019 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor David Bigger officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow at the Idaville Cemetery.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the Bible Holiness Church.

We are so sorry for your loss. We know that Uncle Gilbert joins our mom, Ida Mae, in Heaven. We will keep all of your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Uncle Gilbert was my mother's brother. Ida Mae was the youngest girl of the DeWitt's. So sorry to hear that he passed away but I am sure they are rejoicing in Heaven.
