Dolores May Day, 85, Walton, went to be with the Lord at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family and pet birds.
She was born Nov. 11, 1931, to the late Elmer and Effie Mae Chiha. On June 26, 1951, she married the love of her life, John L. Day, who passed away on Nov. 29, 2009. Together they raised eight children.
She was a good wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church in Walton. Her hobbies included gardening, volunteering for bake sales, church activities, and the Walton food bank. She was also a Girl Scout leader, seamstress and quilter. She also enjoyed attending the musical performances in Cutler, Indiana.
Survivors include daughters, Deb Horner, Dianna (Steve) Hosier, Donna (Tommy) Rowan, all of Logansport, and Denise (Willard) Wray III, Debary, Florida; sons, David Day, Wasilla, Alaska, Danny Day, Walton, and Darrell (Christine) Day, Columbus, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dwayne; and two great-grandchildren.
After cremation, the family wishes to have a private burial service at Walton Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
