Dirk Goris

Dirk Goris, 62 of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully, June 5, 2019, from complications of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Dirk was born to Dr. Dale and Jane Goris on April 2, 1957, in Logansport. He attended Logansport High School, received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Indiana University and an MBA from the University of Dallas.
After working in accounting and computer sales for a few years, Dirk found his passion: multi-family investment sales at CBRE. He started in the Arlington, Texas, CBRE office in 1988 for 10 years and then relocated to the CBRE Dallas office for the next 21 years. Dirk was consistently one of the top producers in the DFW area.
Dirk is survived by his wife, Cheryl Goris, who he married on July 17, 1993, in Dallas, Texas; two sons, Blake Goris of Austin, Texas and Adam Goris of Dallas, Texas; father, Dr. Dale Goris of Sarasota, Florida; and four siblings, Dr. Jack Goris (Anita) of Lafayette, Nancy Mills (Doug) of Crawfordsville, Dr. Jim Goris (Lori) of Evansville, and Dr. David Goris of Brownsburg. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Goris.
Dirk lived life to the fullest and was forever active in all his endeavors. Many of his lifelong friendships were formed at Indiana University from the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Never one to sit back and relax, he picked up playing rugby for the Dallas Harlequins in 1986 and continued until he coached his boys' many different sports throughout the years. It was apparent to everyone who knew Dirk that his boys came before anything else. He never failed to prioritize spending time with Cheryl, Blake, and Adam - they meant the world to him. From adventurous vacations, to weekends at Cedar Creek Lake and hangouts at the popular Goris household, Dirk always made time to ensure that family and friends were thoroughly entertained and loved.
Dirk's personality was larger than life. He never met a stranger because he talked to everyone and loved people - his wit and charm were top notch. Even in his downtime, you could find him passionately cheering on his beloved sports teams: Indiana Hoosier Basketball and Pittsburgh Steelers Football.
A memorial service and celebration of Dirk's life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, located at 5801 West Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas 75093. Celebration of Life will be immediately after at the couple's Dallas home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help fight ALS at https://because.massgeneral.org/dirkgoris.
