Daniel T. Winter, 83, Galveston, went home to be with the Lord at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Aperion Estates in Peru.
Dan was born Oct. 15, 1933 in Monterey to Daniel Winter and Ema (Shorter) Gregory. On March 18, 1955, he married the love of his life, Myra K. Scott. She preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 2006.
Dan was the store manager for Red Barn Foods in Galveston for several years. He had also worked for the RC Plant in Galveston. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Kokomo. He enjoyed fishing and coached little league for many years. Dan spent his lifetime caring for his friends and neighbors.
Surviving family include children, Dan (Mary) Winter Jr., La Porte, Bonnie (Sam) Coate, Greentown, John (Christy) Winter, Peru, Tim (Angie) Winter, Galveston, and Rick (Lisa) Winter, Kokomo; grandchildren, Samantha Vincent, Sarah Ailor, Courtlyn Wray, Alex Winter, Derek Lorona, Ashley Jones, Kristen Holms, Brooke Azpeitia, Camden Winter and Bryan Graves; great-grandchildren, Michael Banner, Kayden Vincent, Aerilyn Vincent, Grace Vincent, Audrey Ailor, Emma Ailor, Evelyn Ailor, Blakely Wray, Rafael Vazquez, Max Winter, Lilliana Azpeitia, Presley Holms, Halle Holms, Precious Jones, Lacy Jones and Scarlet Graves; and siblings, Sister Clarise Winter, Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Frank (Joan) Winter, Monterey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and three sisters, Catherine, Madelyn and Agnes.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston. Pastors, Randy Blankenship, Steve Eckart and Steve Allen will be officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 31.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to New Life Assembly of God or Chapel Hill Christian Church in Kokomo.
