Betty's Story

Betty J. Johnson, 94, Logansport, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior at 6:32 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, in Miller's Merry Manor, Logansport.
Betty was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Cass County, to Earl and Lola McClain Cox.
On Jan. 12, 1947, also in Cass County, she was married to Nelson C. Johnson who preceded her in death Sept. 19, 2004.
Betty was a 1942 graduate of Logansport High School and a lifelong member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. She was very proud of the fact she was the oldest and longest member of her church.
Betty was a homemaker for most of her life. She did work nearly seven years in the Cass County Recorder's office in the early 1960s for George W. Cline.
She served as an assistant 4-H leader for many years, and was a former member of the Clay Township Home Ec Club. Over the years, she enjoyed wintering in Florida.
Betty was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Marsha K. Iles, two grandsons, John S. (Alicia) Iles and Brian D. (Ann) Iles; and three great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Chloe and Nathan Iles, all of Logansport. Also surviving are a niece, Suzy (John) Hatton, Logansport, and a nephew, Bill (Maddy) Cox, Logansport; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven C. Johnson; a son-in-law, David J. Iles; and her brother and sister-in-law, Rayburn and Betty Cox.
A funeral service celebrating Betty's life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Theda McBryde officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Logansport.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the funeral chapel.
